The most pressing reason is because what we’re doing now is not going to sustain itself in the years to come, and something therein needs to change.

Despite the hard work and the sacrifices our Deputies and our current Sheriff makes each day, there are constraints and roadblocks happening somewhere in the mix, and many feel that we need to make some assessments and adjustments to improve upon and build upon what many have worked diligently to build and support for decades.

For Example:  (1) various parts of Hancock County are simply not being patrolled on a regular basis, (2) there are times when there is no law enforcement presence on the street on standby and ready to respond, (3) recruiting is a near-impossible feat from the reports I’m receiving, (4) we are behind on the times concerning equipment and technology that helps with policing and community safety… and I’m sure there’s more. 

In the upcoming 2026 Primary Election, you’ll have a few choices as to who will serve you and your family as the next Hancock County Sheriff, and we want to encourage you to consider voting for “Change” by voting for Vandgrift.

When it comes to elected offices, we’ve found in recent years that it’s wise to consider electing someone new and fresh…. Someone who is not interconnected to that particular office or the folks who currently serve therein, but rather an individual who has complimentary Leadership skills and a vision to improve upon what is currently in place.

And we have the opportunity now to elect someone with both Organizational Leadership Experience and Character. Someone who is determined to serve the citizens of this great county with humility and intentionality.
